Dear ASH Middle School Families,
As we approach the end of the semester, now is a great time to check in with your child about their academic progress. Take a moment to log into your child’s Brightspace account and review the Habits for Learning and academic progress on Brightspace. If you notice that the Habit for Learning for Responsibility is Sometimes (S) or Rarely ( R), then please talk about what missing assignments they have yet to turn in. Your support in helping your child write an email to the teacher (and copying you) can help them as we near the end of the semester. If you’re not familiar with Brightspace, here is a short video that we used this semester to guide your children and will be helpful for you and your child to watch together.
Thank you for your continued support in your child's learning journey!
In partnership,
Beth Coyle

Limited Powerschool Access through Friday, February 6
Parents should have access to see their child’s current schedule and the schedule for the week ahead via Powerschool. While we work on report cards and grading, access to student reports is not viewable through Friday, February 6. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please direct them to the Middle School Office; you can reach the office at msoffice@ash.nl or +31 (0) 70 512 10 60 ext. 510. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
Friday, February 6, report cards will be live on Powerschool and all access restored. We will remind you when the time gets closer to download a copy for your files/records.
AMC Math Competition Information
The 2026 international AMC-8 Math Competition, designed to be challenging for grade 8 students, but open to students in grades 5-8, is taking place Monday, January 26, from 11:35-12:35. Note: Registration is now closed and no make-ups are possible in the case of absence. This year we have 50 middle school students participating. AMC-8 practice problems are available online. We encourage participating students to complete at least one practice test before the formal competition.
Learning to Balance Being a Student-Athlete
Being in a sport at ASH asks students to develop a sense of balance between the sport and academics. Developing and demonstrating strong Habits for Learning throughout the school day means your child is ready for the extra opportunities that take them out of class with sports. Our expectation is that all student athletes demonstrate “Consistently” for 75% or more of their Habits for Learning in order to travel and participate. Please check with your child about their Habits for Learning to ensure their eligibility to participate in tournaments or travel.
Donate Your Extra LEGOs to Support the High School Service Trip to Thailand
A group of high school students are preparing for their Thailand 2026 service trip in February and are collecting LEGO blocks to donate to the school they are collaborating with in Thailand. The goal is to obtain these pieces through a drive in middle school, elementary school, and high school and they are kicking off the drive today. Please follow this link for more information about how you can help our high school students support others.
