It's Trick-or-Treat Time!
Get ready to join the fun in Wassenaar and follow the ASH PTO pumpkin trail. Halloween is a traditional autumn event, which encourages kids to dress up in a favorite costume and (with adult supervision), go door-to-door showing off their costumes and gathering treats - “trick or treating”. As always, those families living outside of central Wassenaar are welcome to join us in the festivities.Registration
If you would like your child(ren) to participate and/or would like to open up your house and accept trick-or-treaters that night, please complete the online registration form
. If you have no children that wish to trick-or-treat, we would still love to have you join the fun by opening up your house to trick-or-treaters.Candy DonationsFor each child participating, please donate at least 1kg (4 large bags) of store bought, individually wrapped candy. Please place all candy in the decorated boxes located at: ASH main reception, Upper Elementary reception, Early Learning Childhood Center atrium, Wassenaar Bibliotheek or Kelly's Expat Store from October 9th until November 2nd. You can also choose to pay 10euro per child which will be used to purchase candy.Pumpkin Trail
The final Google Map of participating houses will be shared once the registration period closes. Non-ASH Families
Children from schools other than ASH who wish to participate in the Halloween festivities are also asked to register using the following link
and we ask that you bring your candy donations to Kelly’s Expat Store, Wassenaar Library or give to a friend at ASH. Alternatively, you can choose to pay 10 Euro per child via bank transfer.
The official hours for trick-or-treating are from 18:00 to 20:00. All participating houses should have a clearly visible Jack O’Lantern (a carved pumpkin with a lit candle inside) and an outside house light on.
You will receive final instructions after you register but please keep the following in mind if your children are going to be hitting the streets on Saturday, November 3rd. "Trick or Treating" survival tips:
- Dress appropriately for the weather and conditions (hopefully you will not need to hide your fantastic costume);
- Walk with trusted friends and do not go anywhere that looks dark, over-crowded or unsafe;
- Only knock once at each house and say ‘trick or treat’
- Only knock if there is a clear welcome marked by a lit jack-o-lantern pumpkin and front door is lit;
- Don’t eat unwrapped treats or anything that looks unpleasant;
- Pick up any wrappers you see on the ground;
- Be safe and visible and carry a torch to make sure you are seen on the streets;
