Community Partners

When asked about the impact of the ASH Global Service Programs on their organizations and the local communities, our partners were unanimous in emphasizing the importance of these programs, both for local communities in Nepal, Tanzania and Thailand, as well as for the learning and development of our own students. Here are a few comments about this impact:

“Because of the lack of training for teachers in our country and the focus on memorization in our educational system, your students often accomplish greater learning gains for our kids in the 3 or 4 days that they work with them than the local teachers do in more than 2 months of instruction.” (Prabin Gautam, founder and director of Himalayan Voluntourism, Nepal)

“Your students help us create and design extra curricular programs by showing to our staff what we can do to keep kids engaged beyond the classroom through song, dance, drama, sports, etc.” (Kimberly Zandvliet, founder and director of the DINKA School in Aursha, Tanzania)

“Your students are an inspiration and a role model for our kids and when they can stay connected with your students, this has a positive influence on their development and motivation.” (Min Oo, Grassroots-FED, Thailand)
