At ASH, we have our own weather station
. This year, we have officially registered the station with the Dutch met Office, the KNMI to assist them in collecting information about rain patterns country-wide. Take a look: go to this link
and type in Wassenaar and you'll see a map showing all of the weather stations in the area - you'll find us close to the Voorschooten station.
Almost one decade ago, the Parent Teacher Organization honored American School of The Hague with a weather station. Since then, it has been located in the roof of the Elementary School and it has been renewed once. It gives students another hands-on, practical way to investigate science; the changable Dutch weather provides plenty of data.
As part of our Elementary School science curriculum, students observe weather changes and patterns, collect data, and graph those results. Our weather station introduces students to the important link between science and technology.
In Middle and High School, the Weather Station is also an excellent resource for teachers and students.
Our community also uses it daily, to access local conditions, and to see how they should dress for their bike ride to school.
for more weather stations like ours around the world.
