  • Step 1: Thoroughly Review this Website

    We hope that the information contained within these web pages will provide you with an insight into the curriculum and programs of our school.
  • Step 2: Contact Us

    If you are still in the inquiry/interest phase, please complete the Inquiry Form to request more specific information. 
  • Step 3: Schedule a Visit to the School

    Although not necessary, you may wish to schedule a visit to the school to prior to making final application.
  • Step 4: Complete and Return the Application

    Complete the Elementary School Admissions Forms, which can be downloaded from this page.  Please include complete academic records for 3 years of schooling (the current school year and the previous two years) for each applicant.  Academic records include report cards, progress reports, standardized test scores, individualized testing reports and Individual Educational Plans and any other information pertinent to the applicant’s learning style.   Please translate into English, if necessary.  Applications and school records may be submitted electronically, by FAX, by postal mail or in person.  Please note that the Health form needs to be completed online and you will find the link to that document on this page.
  • Step 5: Arrange for current teacher to complete the Student Placement Profile

    For all students, the American School of The Hague requires a Student Placement Profile completed by the applicant’s current or most recent teacher. 
  • Step 6: While We Review the Application

    Be sure to follow the Application Checklist to determine that you have provided all of the necessary documentation.  When the application file is complete, the School will review your child's needs and school records to determine that our program will further foster your child’s learning. We may contact you for additional information.  If you did not do so in Step 3, you may choose to schedule a visit to the school at this time.
  • Step 7: The School will Advise You of Our Admissions Decision

    You will be notified of the school’s admission decision.  If space is available you will receive a formal Letter of Acceptance, which upon return, confirms your enrollment at ASH.
  • Step 8: New students, with their parent(s), participate in final registration and new student orientation

    These activities are by appointment, and take place prior to your child's first day of class.  For students arriving at the beginning of the new academic year commencing in August, a full schedule of orientation activities is planned the week prior to the first day of school (please refer to the school calendar).  You will be provided with a final orientation schedule in early summer.

What Grade Should My Child Enter?

The grade which your child will enter is determined by their age on October 1st. For example, a child who is 4 on October 1 will be considered for entry into Transition Kindergarten.

    Admission to American School of The Hague (ASH) shall be based on data submitted as required by the professional staff to determine:
     
    1. The potential of the applicant to benefit from the educational services available;
     
    2. The ability of the school to meet the educational needs of the applicant.
     
    3. Admission shall not be denied because of nationality, race, creed or gender.
