‘Day of the Dead’ Theme Breathes New Life into ASH Halloween Celebration

If you’ve ever wanted to be part of a skeleton crew, then the PTO’s annual Halloween celebration is sure to fit the bill—no bones about it! PTO is scaring up a new kind of fun this year with a Day of the Dead Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, November 2nd from 17:00 - 20:00, in the main campus parking lot. This event is for ASH families only and entry is €5.00 per child. Wristband sales and car registration will open on 1 October.

The Trunk or Treat concept will welcome ASH students to trick-or-treat out of the decorated trunks of some 30 cars right here on campus. Games, prizes, face painting, music, and concessions will also be part of the evening’s festivities, along with a Haunted School for the middle and high school students.

The “Day of the Dead” - Día de los Muertos - is a vibrant and joyous Mexican tradition that honors the lives of deceased loved ones with colorful sugar skulls (calaveras), paper crafts (papel picado), marigolds, and other special items. The annual celebration takes place between October 31 and November 2 and has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

If you would like to volunteer to help make the Day of the Dead Trunk or Treat event the life of the party, please contact the PTO Halloween Committee at
