The Trojan Cafe is Open!

On Tuesday, January 15th, our popular Trojan Cafe opened its doors again to all on campus and is serving up energizing drinks and delicious snacks for a welcome coffee and tea break. Ran by our HSSE (High School Special Education) students, Trojan Cafe’s menu offers hot chocolate, fresh mint tea, freshly brewed coffee and tasty home-baked snickerdoodle bars.

The Cafe is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 10:00 and 10:20 when the HSSE classroom becomes abuzz with drink orders, payment processing, and snack serving. The students are responsible for setting up the Cafe and cleaning up after the Cafe closes. In addition, running the Trojan Cafe also provides an opportunity for the students to apply a variety of life skills that they have learnt in the classroom. They practice their social skills through interaction with their customers, sharpen their math by operating the cash register, and delve into the science of brewing coffee and tea and baking tasty snacks.

This is a truly enriching experience for all. Next coffee break, come enjoy a delightful hot beverage in the Trojan Cafe!
