Welcome to the High School at American School of The Hague (ASH), a place where the art and science of teaching come together as teachers plan and design learning experiences for students that develop knowledge, as well as a deeper understanding of what it means to be a conceptual learner. High school is a journey of self-discovery, reflection, and exploration, and our faculty and staff look forward to supporting our students as they engage in learning experiences to find their identity and figure out how they fit into the world.
Our school community works collaboratively to encourage and support the growth of our students in their social-emotional well-being, and in their academic experiences. Our faculty and staff put students at the center of every discussion, and students are not only encouraged but are expected to play an important role in determining the paths they will follow during their time in our High School community. As their sense of independence grows, students also develop themselves further in the five areas related to ASH’s core values—respect, responsibility, empathy, integrity, and communication.
Students in the High School have access to a wide range of rigorous and exciting courses and co-curricular offerings that challenge them to develop their skills in collaboration, innovation, and communication. Additionally, ASH’s location in The Netherlands offers a wealth of experiences and learning opportunities for our students, faculty, and staff. The academic and co-curricular opportunities offered at ASH are multiplied by many domestic and international travel experiences for classes, athletics and service-related activities that provide our students with a high school experience that is of the highest standard. In fact, the different components of the ASH high school experience combine to prepare our students to leave here as internationally-minded world citizens.
