Technology in High School

We are strongly committed using state-of-art technology to support our students' learning, and to prepare them for an increasingly technical global world. All our High School students are part of our 1 to 1 Laptop Program, where every student is issued a laptop.

Our Music Technology program utilizes a specialized computer lab to create and edit digital sound, and the Arts program's lab is used for photography and video design.

Teachers and students also have access to scanners, tablets, cameras, and document readers to help support their curriculum needs. Most of the High School classrooms have smartboards and our teachers set annual technology goals to further develop their use of technology in lessons. Our High School teachers are committed to creating an environment where the use of technology is routine and transparent, and supports curricular goals.

We also offer a course in writing apps for Android devices in the Java language and will be integrating the use of more hand-held devices to support the curriculum.
At ASH we believe education creates global citizens prepared to succeed in a complex and changing world.

Laptop Program

Our 1:1 Laptop Program focuses on using technology to improve teaching and learning. We began the program in 2008 in the Middle School, and as those students have moved up the grades, it has extended into High School. Now all students in Grades 6 through 12 are part of the 1:1 Laptop Program. Putting a laptop in the hands of each student helps them develop the skills necessary to be successful in today’s world.
