Maiko was 14 when she joined ASH from her hometown of Tokyo, with almost no English skills. With the support of teachers such as Mr. Ferreria (the EAL teacher at the time) and Mr. Yarnell (current music teacher), Maiko settled and started to shape her own #ASHexperience. Upon graduation, Maiko was accepted into the renowned Berklee College of Music, but decided to return to Japan to pursue her studies and future career. Today you can find her at McKinsey & Company as Client Service Manager where she enjoys working in a cross-cultural environment very similar to ASH”. She attributes her unique #ASHexperience to where she is now, as her time here helped her master English language skills and taught her how to be confident in global circumstances.
