Love Is In The Air at ASH
Roses are red, violets are blue, what’s that you say? It’s Valentine’s Day.

Today, on February 14th, ASH is celebrating friendship, love, and kindness in all kinds of different ways. Both of our buildings are teeming with students and staff dressed brightly in red and pink, and the hallways have all kinds of surprises.

Over at the library, there were curated piles of novels dedicated to the hopeless romantics among us. Tales about forbidden love, lost love and friendship were abundant, but there was also a corner for ones who weren’t feeling the romance too much in the Anti-Valentine’s Day reads shelf.

At the ECC, the day started with an assembly in the sunlight Atrium with a programme based on kindness, love and feeling safe. Four students read the book “Love Makes A Family”, which included great examples of what love means; like a kiss goodnight, a helping hand and baking a cake.

Speaking of cakes, the seniors over in the main campus were in luck. The Senior Treat table was swamped with delicious home-made treats by some senior parents. There was something for everyone; lemon poppy seed cakes, red velvet muffins, brownies and much more. ASH counselors also made an appearance handing over heart-shaped chocolates to passing students.

Some teachers took the opportunity to explode their classrooms with decorations and Valentine’s Day themed activities, like the Ms. Brady’s ESSE classroom. They exchanged Valentine’s, feasted on delicious treats, and worked on virtual greetings for their parents.

Although Valentine’s Day is a chance to celebrate love and friendship loudly, it’s worthwhile to remember that, as an ECC student put it, “Kindness is what makes the world go round” - ECC student.
