In Memoriam: Recent Alumni Passings

With heavy hearts we share the passing of these alumni who have recently left our midst. Our deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved them.

Staff Alum Mary Barrett: Mary passed away on December 9, 2021 in the Netherlands, in the presence of her daughters. Mary taught at ASH in various capacities since 1968; from elementary school art teacher, to teaching Kindergarten and Grade 2, and even elementary school EAL. After retirement, she substituted at ASH from 2005-2015, making her a part of the ASH teaching community for an astounding 47 years.

Staff Alum William “Bill” Hungerford: Bill passed away peacefully on January 14, 2022 in the Netherlands. He taught high school social studies at ASH from 1974 - 1994 and led our Model United Nations for many years.

Student Alum Douglas Smith, Class of 2012: Doug passed away on February 27, 2022, at the age of 27. Doug had a big heart and was known for his caring and loving attitude. Sympathies and memories of Doug can be shared online via the official obituary page.

ASH Alum Quinn Rodell: Quinn passed away on May 15, 2022, after his battle with cancer. Quinn was part of the ASH family by default, his mom Jessie working at ASH for 26 years and his sister Tiersa an ASH graduate from the Class of 1982. Quinn was a regular volunteer at ASH working with our concierge team for years; his happiness and positive energy spread to all who knew him.
