Friday, February 7 - Sunday, February 9

This weekend we travel to Rotterdam for two major events: From Thursday, February 6 - Sunday, February 9, we stay in Rotterdam for a wonderful Art fair; Art Rotterdam. This international fair is the first in the world that focuses exclusively on autonomous design and the most current developments within it. Seventy international galleries are selected on the basis of quality and originality, so only the most talented artists are on display to the public. In addition, the event takes place in a very special location: a World Heritage site, the van Nelle Factory. This event provides the opportunity to see this one of a kind site and enjoy how art and history are combined here.

If art is not in your interests, and sports is more your thing, don't rule out a visit to Rotterdam just yet! Also in happening Rotterdam starting on Saturday, February 8 is the ABN/AMRO World Tennis Tournament. The 47th edition of this tennis classic runs until February 16, with some of the most exciting games scheduled in the sport. What a nice way to combine a trip to Rotterdam, sports and arts, all in one!

Don't forget the tip I mentioned in my previous tips, if you are preparing for your February break trip. Please be reminded that when you are driving to a winter sport destination, you need to have the correct "vignette" or toll/emission sticker on your car. For more information visit www.tolltickets.com and emission tickets. You can check with your garage or the ANWB if the country you'll be traveling through (and to) requires your car to have winter tires. As I mentioned last week, Snowworld in Zoetermeer and other locations offer the possibility to experience the feeling of skiing and snowboarding without a trip to Austria or Switzerland. They also offer classes to get in shape for the next winter break in February!

You know that I always try to plan ahead (I am so glad my family isn't reading this now, they'd start laughing....) In February and March the Dutch National Ballet performs "Giselle" in the Muziektheater in Amsterdam; this truly is a beautiful ballet for the entire family. Ticket sales are going very fast, so be sure to reserve yours now if this event is of interest.

Have a good weekend.
