Community Gardening Day
On Thursday April 20, more than 60 students and staff took part in an in-house "field trip", participating in self-organizing teams to refresh and enhance the community garden on ASH's main campus. In a highly successful day's work, we were able to create a seating area for our new picnic tables, expand the composting area, weed the garden, clear out most of the raised beds, and plant seeds and flowers. We were so impressed by our students' willingness to get their hands dirty and experience the satisfaction of a "hard day's work" outside. Although there is still some work to do, we have given the garden a much needed boost in time for Spring, and we are excited for the community to enjoy the enhanced space in the days ahead.
Thank you to everyone who supported us by allowing students to take part, providing tools, supplying refreshments, supervising and guiding the work, taking photographs, and joining us in the garden - we are already looking forward to more gardening days in the near future.
The Community Gardening Day took place during Earth Week, between 17 and 21 April.
