Class of ‘80-’91 Celebrates Decades of Friendship at Reunion Weekend
Though the current ASH campus has stood for more than 30 years, the Classes of 1980–1991 still fondly referred to it as the “new” building during their recent reunion weekend. Nearly 80 alumni from across the decade gathered to revisit the memories and friendships that shaped their high school years.

Before arriving on campus, the group took a nostalgic bus ride through The Hague to visit their former high school building on Paulus Buijsstraat. They continued their ride to Wassenaar at our current campus, where they were warmly welcomed by the ASH student jazz ensemble and invited to flip through yearbooks and old photos, laughing, reminiscing, and re-telling stories about their days at ASH. After many good catch up conversations and a welcome from school director Dr. Lowe, the Student Senate co-presidents and student ambassadors guided them through the halls and classroom spaces which they currently learn and make memories in, sharing the ins and outs of their daily life. For sure, the alumni and students connected over the things that are still the same – like favorite subjects and long lasting friendships–even though much has changed since the years when ASH was located in The Hague.

The athletics trophies and records were a definite highlight for the group, where familiar names rekindled memories of teammates, championship wins, and even a few memorable defeats. The tour continued through the STEM Center. “Back then we only had science!” one graduate laughed, while learning about today’s offerings in programming, robotics, manufacturing, game design, and more. Before heading out, many alumni picked up updated ASH spirit wear to add to their collections. A common thread between them all, which many vocalized, was that ASH played a key role in shaping their path in life and for many “my friends from ASH are still some of my best friends today.”

This reunion was a testament to the lasting friendships and connections that define our community. We’d like to send a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who joined and helped make the weekend possible. Here’s to celebrating more memories together!
