Celebrating the Graduating Class of 2024 at American School of The Hague
On May 31st, American School of The Hague (ASH) celebrated a momentous occasion—the graduation of the Class of 2024. In a ceremony filled with joy and anticipation, 129 students received their diplomas, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of many new adventures.
The graduates are set to pursue a diverse array of paths. Many are heading to universities across the globe such as King’s College London, Northwestern University, Universidad de Navarra, University of Amsterdam, Eindhoven University of Technology and many more, furthering their education and expanding their horizons. Others have chosen to take a gap year, embracing opportunities to explore the world. Some are embarking on traineeships, ready to gain hands-on experience in their chosen fields.
Marie-Christine Schröeder-van Waes, Vice-Chair of the school’s Board of Directors, awarded the diplomas. The encouraging words and reflections of High School Principal David Munro and Director Dr. Courtney Lowe resonated deeply with the graduates and their families, reinforcing the strong community bonds that define ASH. Wassenaar Alderman Ritske Bloemendaal also attended the ceremony.
Performances by the ASH Concert Band and Strings, along with the Choir, added a touch to this special milestone - a moment that not only helped create the celebratory atmosphere, but that also highlighted the talents of ASH’s student musicians. The ceremony also featured inspiring speeches from the four students selected by their classmates. Sharing heartfelt reflections on their time at ASH through cherished memories of friendships and impactful lessons from teachers was a great way of expressing the vivid picture of the ASH experience.
The High School Awards Ceremony took place a few days before graduation, recognizing several senior students for their outstanding academic achievements and exemplary values of empathy, solidarity, and collaboration.
As the Class of 2024 steps into the future, they carry with them the knowledge, experiences, and values cultivated during their time at ASH. We wish them all the best as they chase their dreams and make their mark on the world. Congratulations, students!
