Another three day weekend is ahead of us! By now, you have come to realize that the Dutch love their extra days off. On Monday, June 1, we will observe "Whit Monday," or "Pentecost Monday." Usually, for the Dutch, this is a day to go furniture hunting. But this year, June 1 will mark an especially important day. As I mentioned last week, the Netherlands is slowly coming out of lockdown. Starting today, museums, amusement parks, zoo's, and restaurants open up again, though all with restrictions and all requiring prior reservations. One museum I would like to mention is the Rijksmuseum. Please check the website of this museum and their Operation Night Watch. Enjoy!
The Dutch National Opera is streaming many former performances. For a wonderful evening "out" (without the typical Dutch parking problems), please check out their website.
And for the youngest ones amongst us and their parents, I have the following information:
A few weeks ago, I very much enjoyed a CNN/Sesame Street town hall. This Saturday, May 30, CNN will be partnering with "Sesame Street" again, for a second town hall about the coronavirus. The town hall has kids AND their parents in mind.
"The ABCs of COVID-19: A CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall for Kids and Parents" will stream live on CNN's website on Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m. ET (4pm Dutch time) and tackle issues such as summer safety, play dates, schooling and how kids and families around the world are creatively coping during these challenging times. The 60 minute town hall will feature experts and "Sesame Street" characters - including Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Rosita and Grover - answering questions submitted by families. Big Bird will join CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and CNN anchor and national correspondent Erica Hill to moderate the event.
And an exciting week is ahead of us in the ASH community. The middle and high school students and staff will return to campus again. Good luck to all, and I hope everyone enjoys seeing each other in person again.
Have a good weekend and "start" to the final weeks of school!
