Back to School bASH
After a joyful first week of school, what could be better than a day of fun and games with more than 1000 new friends? “This is an opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate a new school year in a relaxed and joyful environment,” said ASH Director Dr. Courtney Lowe.
At the second edition of the 'Back to School bASH', the activities ranged from a bouncy castle to Dutch games, face painting by our talented high school students, and so much more. Pippa, Admissions Officer and co-organizer said, “It just made me happy to see all the smiling faces, and I loved seeing all the face painting. It’s also surprising how competitive parents can be at Connect Four!”
All new and returning families were enthusiastically welcomed by the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), ASH Spirit Store, Monday Morning Networking (MMN), and other community partners. ASH parent and Spirit Store volunteer Vanessa said, “It was really fun, we got lots of customers. People were so excited to be back after summer, and there were lots of new families stocking up on ‘ASH merch’, as the students call it.”
Though it was a busy day for all volunteers, Vanessa also had a good time sampling the ice cream and other food stalls. “But my favorite part was meeting the new families,” she says. “I remember our own arrival last year, and it was really exciting and encouraging to help welcome this year’s new families.”
“We look forward to building on the success of bASH,” says Admissions Director and co-organizer Laura. “But for now, we hope our families and students have a wonderful school year ahead!”
