Over the last two months, our ASH community has put in so much effort and hard work into the virtual learning environment. Following the Dutch government’s recent announcements and guidelines, ASH officially reopened our elementary school on May 12, with 215 learners opting to return to campus and the remaining students continuing to learn from home. All of our elementary school students will be following the virtual learning programs put together by our ASH teachers, and our staff will be monitoring and evaluating this approach as they have done since we transitioned to VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) in mid-March.
We are excited to have our first students back on campus. Our staff has been hard at work over the last weeks preparing our buildings and classrooms for their safe return. New procedures have been implemented and there is health and safety equipment in each classroom to ensure the well-being of our students and staff. We also want to thank our PTO for the lovely welcome our students and staff received when they returned for their first day on campus, with beautiful chalk portrait impressions of the elementary school teaching staff, on the pavements surrounding both the ECC and upper elementary entrances. Thank you to ASH parent Lisa McKimmie who donated her time & talents on behalf of the PTO in return for support to Soi Dog Foundation.
In the coming weeks, we will learn more from the Dutch government about their guidelines and advice for reopening on-campus learning to our older students. Until then, we want to encourage our middle and high school learners to keep up the hard work in the VLE and we hope to see you back on campus soon!
