A Sea of Red, Yellow and Blue Kick Off First Color House Assembly

Last week marked the first Color House assembly of the year and for many middle school students their first one here at ASH. Our middle school Color House program is designed to help build our community and give students a sense of belonging and ownership in their #ASHexperience. All middle schoolers belong to one of the three houses - red, yellow or blue - across the different grade levels and they participate in various events throughout the school year. Each Color House elects captains to serve on the House Council and as leaders for the middle school student body.

Middle school teacher, Owen Davison, reflects on this #uniquelyASH event:

The Color House captains set very high standards with their first Color House assembly of the year. The captains had spent considerable hours preparing for the assembly, which as always is planned and run by student members of the middle school Color House. The assembly ran like clockwork as it:

  • Reflected on successful middle school project weeks
  • Emphasized the plethora of curricular and co-curricular opportunities available to middle school students
  • Celebrated our many ASH student-athletes
  • Recognized sustainability efforts and set goals for the year
  • Advertised the upcoming grade seven and eight social
  • Looked for idea contributions as to how we can make our school community even stronger

Kudos to the Color House captains for their teamwork, and enthusiasm. 2019 promises to be a great year!
