A Day with the National Ballet
Last Monday, our youngest learners worked all day with the Dutch National Ballet on an informal performance of Tchaikovsky's ‘Nutcracker’.

Cecile, Dance Instructor from the Dutch National Ballet said: “The children start the day full of expectation, and it is wonderful to take them along on this journey.” In small groups the children worked on different parts of the performance.

Organizer of the day, ECC music teacher, Violeta said: “I loved observing students shine using the language of dance in a playful way. They expressed so much freedom and joy in using their bodies in the workshop and showed new movements and jumps in an expressive and focused way. Students truly made the most of the lessons by participating in everything with an incredible positive attitude. I am so proud of all my students!”

At pick-up time, parents enjoyed the enthusiastic Kindergarteners and Pre-k'ers making this famous ballet come alive. To Violeta, seeing this all come together in the presence of teachers, support staff and families was very special: “Bringing the whole ECC community together to celebrate and learn together from the ballet was the culmination of a lot of little steps that I needed to follow in order to organize it. My learning that matters came from realizing how each little piece is important and not taking for granted the value that each member of the community brings to the ECC.”

Cecile: “It was a wonderful experience. It wasn’t even about the performance, because while that is a highlight of the day, what truly matters was the fun we had while working together.”

Violeta concluded: “The support, appreciation and involvement of all members of the community is what made this experience thrive for students. Viva la Musica at the ECC!”
