Student Audience in the Theater during Career Quest Event

Through our annual Course Selection and Career Quest Day, our High School students engaged in workshops and activities that encouraged them to explore their interests, identify their strengths, and begin translating those insights into course selections and potential career pathways.

Our High School students recently took part in a dynamic and purposeful day designed to help them reflect on and shape their futures. Through our annual Course Selection and Career Quest Day, students engaged in workshops and activities that encouraged them to explore their interests, identify their strengths, and begin translating those insights into informed course selections and potential career pathways.
We were especially honored to welcome Salim Rabbani, Managing Director of RTC Rabbani Trading & Consulting BV and Chairman of the Middle East Business Council, as our keynote speaker. His story, told candidly and personally, reinforced the message that meaningful careers are built with purpose and resilience.
Among the many activities and information sessions that took place, was an in-depth introduction to both the IB and AP programs for the Grade 10 students. As the only school in the Netherlands offering the AP program alongside the IB, ASH provides students with a unique opportunity to choose the pathway that best aligns with their ambitions and learning style. Families can read more about our students’ experiences with both programs here and here.

An essential part of Career Quest Day is the involvement of our broader ASH community. Parents and alumni generously shared their professional journeys, emphasizing that career paths are rarely linear or predictable. Instead, they are shaped by exploration, setbacks, growth, and continuous learning. Students heard practical advice about taking initiative—whether through networking events, internships, or seeking mentorship. This year’s speakers represented diverse fields, including Government Defense, STEM Aerospace Communications, Liberal Arts and Writing, and the Music Industry through an independent record label.

Students also completed interest and strengths profiling activities designed to help them better understand who they are as learners and individuals. By reflecting on what energizes them, the skills they naturally gravitate toward, and the environments in which they thrive, students were able to connect these insights to concrete decisions about subject choices and future study options. At ASH, we are deeply committed not only to seeing our students succeed academically, but also to supporting their growth as thoughtful, self-aware human beings. These workshops intentionally invite students to consider their values, motivations, and sense of purpose to ensure their decisions reflect ambition, as well as personal meaning.
