ASH Community Raises Over €100,000 in support of childhood cancer research
The spirit of solidarity was loud and proud at this year’s St. Baldrick’s event. Our community came together for the third year to raise more than €35,000 in support of childhood cancer research through the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
The spirit of solidarity was loud and proud at this year’s St. Baldrick’s event. Our community came together for the third year to raise more than €100,000 in support of childhood cancer research through the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

This remarkable achievement was made possible by the collective effort of student leaders, teachers, families, and friends—alongside the many brave participants who shaved their heads or donated their hair. From our youngest learners to parents and staff, the commitment to the cause was both visible and deeply felt. A special thank you goes to our local hairdressers, who closed their businesses for the day to stand with us and make the event possible.

This year carried particular significance as we celebrated two ASH students who have successfully completed their treatment at the Princess Máxima Center, our local partner and recipient of 85% of the funds raised. Their journeys served as a moving reminder of why this work matters.

Every person who went under the clippers or donated their braids was met with warm, resounding applause. In those moments, courage became contagious, creating a ripple effect of inspiration that moved through the crowd—so much so that some volunteers stepped forward on the spot.

Events like St. Baldrick’s do much more than raise funds for a good cause. They build awareness and create proximity to complex, real-world challenges. By making the cause approachable for all ages, the event opens space for meaningful dialogue while channeling energy into empathy, motivation, and collective action. Students take the lead; organizing, fundraising, and engaging their peers while parents, teachers, and community members become engaged and contribute in their own way.

As we reflect on this powerful day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved. We look forward to carrying this momentum forward, keeping the conversation alive and growing in transforming solidarity into meaningful actions
