On a sunny Friday afternoon, alumni from across the decades returned to American School of The Hague (ASH) for an All-Class Reunion filled with connection, reflection, and celebration. Nearly 70 former students and teachers attended the event, representing seven decades of generations of ASH, from class of 1959 to 2019 alumni and demonstrating the enduring bonds that connect the school's global community.

 

Troy the Trojan welcomed guests as they arrived on campus. For some students, seeing the mascot again instantly brought back cherished memories, while for others, it was an opportunity to begin creating new ones, having attended school at the Parkweg or Paulus Buijlstraat campus in The Hague. The afternoon was filled with stories from the past, catching up to the present, and guided tours of the campus. Guests gained insight into ASH today, exploring its facilities, academic programs, and the many ways the school continues to evolve while remaining grounded in its mission and values.

 

While the Class of 2016 celebrated their 10-year reunion with 34 of their classmates, one of ASH's first graduates, David Watkins ’59, visited the school for the first time since his graduation. His presence served as a powerful reminder of the school's rich history and the lifelong connections formed at ASH.

 

A highlight of the reunion was the presentation of ASH's inaugural Alumni Awards. The Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to David Hugelmeyer ‘74, Larry Babbin ‘75, Erik Johan Danelius ‘87 and Erin Adamson Jones ‘89. The Distinguished Service Award was awarded to former ASH teachers Roberta Enschedé and Jim Yarnell. A particularly memorable moment came as Jim accepted his award in person, receiving recognition from former students, colleagues, and friends whose lives he had impacted throughout his years of service to the ASH community.

 

The celebration took on even greater significance as it coincided with the graduation for the Class of 2026. Alumni were invited to stay, offering a meaningful opportunity to welcome the newest graduates into the ASH alumni community. The moment served as a reminder that while students may leave campus, they remain part of the ASH family for life.

 

As ASH celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2026, the reunion highlighted the strength of a community that spans generations and continents. Through shared experiences, lasting friendships, and a continued connection to the school, alumni demonstrated that the ASH spirit remains strong long after graduation.
