SAT Test Day Instructions & Procedures
Welcome to the ASH SAT Testing Center. To ensure a smooth and successful testing experience, please read through the following critical instructions carefully.
Arrival & Check-In Timeline
- Arrival Time: Students must arrive at ASH no later than 7:40 AM.
- 7:15 AM – 8:00 AM: Mandatory ID & Admission Check. Official College Board door openings begin at 7:45 AM. Upon entering the building, students must immediately proceed to the ID checkpoint. You will not be allowed to proceed to the designated student area until your identity and registration have been verified.
- Post Check-In: After passing the ID check, students will wait in the school cafeteria. Proctors will arrive to escort students from this waiting area to their designated testing rooms.
- 8:00 AM: Late Gate Closes. Per official College Board rules, doors close strictly at 8:00 AM. Late arrivals will not be admitted once students have moved from the waiting area to the testing rooms. No exceptions can be made.
Strict Identification Requirements
Admission to the test center is completely dependent on having valid identification.
- General ID Policy: Students must bring a valid, physical, unexpired photo ID. Digital IDs, photos of IDs on phones, or photocopies are strictly prohibited. Review the full Official College Board ID Requirements.
- Cross-Border Takers Note: If you are crossing a national border to take the SAT at ASH, the only form of acceptable identification is a valid passport.
- ⚠️ CRITICAL RULE: No passport = NO TEST. There are absolutely no exceptions to this international College Board policy.
Testing Devices & App Setup
- Ensure you have downloaded the most current version of the Bluebook app to your personal device prior to your arrival.
- Complete your exam setup within the Bluebook app to generate your Admission Ticket.
- Bring your fully charged testing device (laptop or iPad) and its power cord/charger. While charging points are available, your device must be capable of holding a charge for the duration of the test.
What to Bring (and What to Leave Behind)
To avoid disqualification, make sure you know what is allowed in the testing room.
- What to Bring Checklist: Valid photo ID, fully charged device/charger, a pen or pencil for scratch work, and an approved calculator (if you prefer a physical one over the built-in Bluebook calculator). View the Official SAT Test Day Checklist.
- Prohibited Items: Cell phones, smartwatches, fitness trackers, headphones/earbuds, and separate timers are not allowed to be used or accessed at any point during testing (including breaks). All electronic devices other than your testing laptop/iPad will be collected by proctors before testing begins.
Dismissal Times
- Standard Testing: Testing will begin once all pre-test instructions have been read. Standard testing is estimated to finish at +/- 11:00 AM.
- Students with Approved Accommodations: If a student has been officially approved by the College Board for testing accommodations (such as 50% or 100% extended time), their dismissal time will be delayed past 11:00 AM depending on their specific requirements.
