Fall 2010 was a busy time for the PTO. In its first season under a new name, the efforts of dedicated PTO volunteers made significant contributions to the school. Some of the highlights:
-
Since August, over 50 volunteers from the Welcoming Committee and Monday Morning Networking enthusiastically embraced and helped over 100 new families integrate into the ASH community…
-
Halloween 2010 and its online presence was the most exciting and successful ever, continuing to cultivate the ASH presence in the community…
-
Guides of the Art Masterpiece Program continue to deliver unique lectures and activities to foster arts appreciation in the Elementary School. This year’s theme, Color My World, focuses on highlighting the child’s perspective and identity within art history…
-
The International Committee organized and hosted an exciting evening social. “Boogie Nights” gave the community an opportunity to come together and have some fun…
-
The Adult Education Program (using on-line registration for the first time!) offered multiple courses and unique tours. Not only does the program promote the opportunity for continuing education and self-enrichment, it raises critical funds for PTO programs…
-
The New Book Fair provided the community with an abundant variety of titles for all ages contributing successfully towards raising funds for PTO programs.
Money raised through these programs enabled over 16,000 euros to be granted to ASH projects last fall. Thank you for participating in and supporting the PTO’s projects and fundraising events. Your involvement makes these gifts possible.
The projects funded last fall include:
-
new archery equipment for the Middle School and High School PE curriculums,
-
new choir folders to protect sheet music for all choir classes grades 5-12 and JAKK,
-
new bikes and outside equipment for grades pre-K through First,
-
a new giant chess board and giant checkers for the Elementary School library to host fun afterschool activities,
-
building an enclosure for the external costume and prop area of the High School Theater,
-
new water pump and installation to restore the original design of the Dance of Life sculpture,
-
and, new iPads for the Elementary School to enhance and benefit children in the Learning Support Services and Enrichment programs.
Remember, the PTO invites everyone to participate in its activities. In fact, success only happens through the immeasurable efforts of our community volunteers. Please consider how you might become involved. No matter what reasons motivate you, improving ASH, social networking, or self-enrichment, there are so many opportunities to explore.
