MS Service Learning Projects
by Sue Nelsen
Middle School Dean of Students

Our service learning projects are on-going and the Grade 5 Soi Dog Project organized by Arlette Stuip, 5/6 ESL Teacher, continues to support animal welfare in Thailand. You can read more about the contribution our students and community are making to this organization by going to www.soidog.org. Thank you to all the parents, friends and relatives who are supporting students in this project. Cheryl de Vries, Dutch teacher, and students are continuing their bake sales and other activities for the Grassroots Project in Thailand, and the 7th graders are continuing to be of service each week to the Food Bank of The Hague. Hope you caught our students “live” at the Food Bank on www.thexpat.tv. It’s a great website that has lots of information for the expat community. I have updated the Food Bank List for second semester and posted it in the download section of InsideASH. As I have been mentioning in FLASH, Ms. Leota Connelly often drives her car to the Food Bank. Parents who want to come along should email her at tim.connelly@alcatel-lucent.com. We leave at 8:30 and return by noon. The Food Bank is feeding even more families this year and needs the help. As we go to press, the 7th Grade is organizing a school-wide Food Drive for the Food Bank. More details about it will be coming out on InsideASH and in The Flash. Thank you in advance for your contributions of non-perishable food items.
